Sunday Plan
Departure and Travel
Don’t forget to pick up your packed lunch! We will depart after breakfast at about 0900 and drive the short distance to the car park above Washington Village. We hope to be walking by 0930.
The Walk
We will start walking when everyone has arrived. The walk starts with a rather steep and rough descent on a sunken lane to the village of Washington. We then walk parallel to the escarpment, before having a slightly less steep ascent. On the return along the top we pass Chanctonbury Ring. Click for a map of the walk.
If you are uncertain about the initial steep descent you can return from the car park to the road and follow this to Washington. There are also a couple of possible shortcuts, which take a lot off the walk but still involve a steep climb. We have not walked either of them.
Lunch
You should have your packed lunch with you, and it’s up to you where you eat it.
The Afternoon

Evening
Dinner will be at 1900.
