Friday Plan

Departure

Please type your surname and hit Tab or touch screen:

Drivers and passengers should make their own arrangements.

Don’t forget to make sure everything you need for walking is accessible in the car.

Travel

Navigational instructions for drivers are in a printable document (see left).

We are meeting in a National Trust car park near Much Wenlock. The obvious route is via Kidderminster and Bridgnorth. As the journey should take only around 1½ hours, you probably will not need any breaks. Be ready to start walking by 1300.

Lunch

You should make your own arrangements for lunch. There are pubs and cafés in Much Wenlock, which you will reach before our car park. You could eat a picnic in the car park, but there are no toilets there. Another option is to use one of several pubs which you pass on the way.

The Walk

Although this is the longest walk of the weekend, it is easy and has numerous possible shortcuts. John & Linda walked it in the summer and found the views were disappointing. We hope that in April there will be less foliage, and we can enjoy the famous views from Wenlock Edge. My software has calculated a surprisingly large ascent, but it is including all the tiny fluctuations shown on the profile, which may not actually exist. Click for a map of the walk.

Hotel

After the walk we have a drive of about 25 minutes to the Long Mynd Hotel. We sgould get there in time for afternoon tea.

Evening

Dinner will be at 1915. As we are in an HF hotel, we may be invited to take part in evening activities organised by the HF walk leaders.
