Barbara Edward’s DAUNCEY Ancestors

Emily Maria DAUNCEY

She was baptised Emily, and seems to have acquired Maria (her sister’s name) after she left her childhood town of Wotton under Edge. Family legend says she was a governess in Rugby before her marriage, but there is no proof of this, and we have not found her in the 1871 census.

After marriage she spent her whole life in Rugby.

Richard DAUNCEY

He was a weaver and dyer, and spent all his life in Sinwell, Wotton under Edge. He left a will which shows that he owned 17 houses at Sinwell.

Richard DAUNCEY

He was a weaver who lived all his life in Sinwell, Wotton under Edge. He left a will which shows he owned several houses in Sinwell.

Richard DAUNCEY

As far as we know, he spent his whole life in Sinwell, Wotton under Edge

Thomas DAUNCEY

A search of the registers of Wotton under Edge & of the neighbouring parishes of Uley, Dursley & Minchinhampton has failed to find his marriage. He does not appear to have been baptised in Wotton.
