According to my aunts, she was orphaned quite young, and had to look after her younger brother James

James LAWSON

• Born: 1844 at Montrose to James Smith LAWSON and Jessie HODGE
• Married: 1871Dec30 at South Leith to Isabella REID
• Children: 2 known, including Jessie Reid LAWSON

The only occupation I know is printer and compositor

James Smith LAWSON

• Born: c1820 at Montrose to James LAWSON and Jean SMITH
• Married: 1841 at Aberdeen St Nicholas to Jessie HODGE
• Children: 6 including James LAWSON
• Died: 1858 at Brechin

He was the Printer and Publisher of The Montrose Standard

James LAWSON

• Married: 1819 at Montrose to Jean SMITH
• Chidren: Only one known is James Smith LAWSON
• Died: before 1858Mar05

I know little about him, other than that he was a seaman in the Merchant Service.
