He was a clerk, then Head Storekeeper & Timekeeper at Pooley’s, Kidsgrove. He was brought up in Rugby, but spent most of his working life in Alsager. On retirement he returned to Rugby, and then to Chaddesden, Derby.
He started work as a boot maker, before joining his father in the basket making business. At the same time he was also a Post Office mail porter. He spent his whole life in Rugby.
He was a basket maker. He lived in Lutterworth to at least 1835, but had moved to Rugby by 1841.
He was a hawker, and we know of no residence other than Lutterworth.
