Monday Plan
The Walk
The walk this morning starts from the front door of Abingworth Hall. You should vacate your rooms and pay your bar bills before setting out. Everyone should be ready to walk by 0915.
When we leave the grounds of the Hall we turn right through the village of Abingworth, then pass a housing estate which is under construction. We cross fields to the village of Thakeham, whose church dates in part back to the 12th century. Our walk takes us along a path parallel to the main street. After another stretch across fields we come to West Chiltington. Its 12th century church has mediaeval wall paintings. Leaving the church, we walk through a rather expensive residential area before crossing fields to return to Abingworth. Click for a map of the walk.
This is quite a complicated walk, so I would not like to split the group. If the weather is bad I can shorten the walk by omitting West Chiltington.
Lunch
At the end of this walk you are free to do what you like. HF do not provide a packed lunch on the last day, but you should have no difficulty in finding a café or pub in Storrington, Arundel, or any other place you pass on the way home.
